The NPTE-PTA runs on fixed dates, four times a year, and each date has a registration deadline about five weeks before it. Here is every PTA date FSBPT has published, through October 2028.

When is the NPTE-PTA offered?

The NPTE-PTA is offered four times a year, in January, April, July and October, on two consecutive days. The last 2026 date is October 6–7. The 2027 dates are January 5–6, April 6–7, July 7–8 and October 5–6. Register and pay about five weeks before your date; the January 2027 deadline is December 1, 2026.

Deadlines for January windows fall in the previous calendar year. For example, the January 2027 registration deadline is December 1, 2026.

What each deadline means

  1. Register and pay by the deadline: $485 to FSBPT plus a 1.6% processing fee. Registrations that aren't paid by 11:59 PM Eastern are closed.
  2. State approval by the jurisdiction deadline, about a week later. If your state hasn't made you eligible by then, your registration closes and you're refunded minus $50. Some states set earlier deadlines of their own.
  3. Schedule at Prometric as soon as your ATT letter arrives. The PTA sitting fee is $92.
  4. Pass/fail status posts to your FSBPT dashboard and goes to your state about five business days after the window.
  5. The free score report with your scaled score posts about a week after that and stays free for 30 days.

Frequently asked questions

Are NPTE-PTA dates different from NPTE-PT dates?

Yes. The PTA exam has its own dates, usually a few weeks before the PT exam in the same month. For example, in October 2026 the PTA exam is October 6–7 and the PT exam is October 27–28.

When do NPTE-PTA scores come out?

About five business days after the testing window for pass/fail status, with the free score report about a week later. The exact dates for each window are in the tables above.

Can I take the NPTE-PTA before I graduate?

FSBPT allows graduates of CAPTE-accredited programs to sit up to 90 days before their graduation date once the school validates it. Some states are stricter.
